Default Is it true daiken clutches are really exedy? What mechanic told me.

Clutch is on the way out so went to see mechanic who will put a heavy duty Daiken, question him on this as never heard of them. Told me Exedy and Daiken are the same company. Trust my mechanic but is it really true. Cheers.

Exedy, daiken & protex are all the same. The only difference between a $500 h/d protex clutch & a $900 Exedy equivalent is the box. The parts shop I used to work at, when we ordered an Exedy clutch, we would get a Protex one plus an empty flatpak Exedy box to put it in.
