I just use soapy water. The trick is to wash often so the dust doesn't eat into the wheel/paint.

I use this stuff on my wheels for brake dust and underbody weekly.

I just use a can of 'wheel cleaner' from a cheap shop. It works fine, just spray on, hose off. If the dust is thick or been there a while, use a scrubbing brush to loosen it.
Just be careful with it cos it ate the silver paint off my old Subarus centre caps!

That's exactly why I won't use anything that's not close to pH neutral. I lost 50% of the paint off my calipers when I used a can of wheel cleaner once
