Hi All,
Im considering getting a VZ SS or a 03 HSV Clubby, i have been looking for vz's for a long time but found a decent looking clubby.
Can anyone tell me few pros & cons to each model? ive been looking at 6sp manuals and both are in my price bracket.
Any help would be very helpful.

clubby hands down, will hold its value better and is a bit less common
what kms do each have? what year VZ? 6 ltr or 5.7?? what do you want to do with it?just some questions that you need to ask yourself... if the clubby is real high KM and the SS isnt, then resale may favour the SS.... but if all is equal, then a CS is hard to beat (wish i could have found a CS in my price range under 100km when i bought my VZ SS lol!!!)
As said above, a low km 6 Litre SS is better than a higher km VY Clubby. I'd go a VZ Clubsport LS2 though if your budget stretches.
i was looking at between around 70-80kms, 90,000kms max for both cars.
Mechanical/reliability and engine wise whats the way to go?
Just after a manual, with low kms. i know the VY's are a bit older compared to the VZ but i was leaning more to the VZ as they are a bit newer but then i really like the clubsports
(VZ clubbys are a bit too pricey for me)
The HSV will probably cost more for parts and servicing.
On paper... VZ SS hands down as a "car". But if you are looking for a "pride and joy" I would look at the Clubby. Though you would be able to get a late VY for the same as you can get a 05 SS.
I was facing a similar decision when I was getting my car. I had the choice of either getting a VE SSV or a VZ HSV R8. I took the clubby solely because it's a clubby and that tiny little bit more special.
I get in, and I just feel good being in it. I just know that if I'd gotten the VE I would have wished I got the clubby.
I see maybe a dozen VE SS, SSV, Sportswagons on my 15min trip to work in the morning, but the other week was the first time I saw a VZ Clubby on my way and it wasn't an R8, which made me feel good about myself really
What's your budget if you don't mind me asking? Maybe if members can an idea of that they will be able to let you know if they find any good deals.
One other thing, the KM you are aiming for... yep, you are aiming for pretty good range but don't limit yourself to that. The later LS engines are pretty bullet proof. I was aiming to get a clubby with under 100km on it, ended up with one that had 120km. Just make sure you have a full service history and you'll be fine.
Good luck with it mate.
Having said all that, HSV parts are extremely overpriced. Servicing won't be too bad because you can service with better, cheaper aftermarket parts but if you have to say replace a panel or interior components, get ready to wipe out the vaseline.
