I own a 2000 series 2 manual v6 vt wagon it's done about 210 000 kms. Originally when I was sitting in 5th gear on the freeway the powertrain light would come on. There was no loss of power or any effects that u could tell but I took it to Holden and they deduced that it was my computer. They replaced it charged me a fortune. I had it back 2 weeks and same thing again happened except now when the light comes on the engine cuts off and I lose all power. This again happens in 5th gear on freeways. My question is if it isnt the computer what else could possibly be causing it? Holden have not been much help so any hints are appreciated
Cheers
You can pull the error codes by bridging pins 5 and 6 on the diagnostics plug and counting the engine light flashes. The procedure is similar to the VR-VS one in the how to section, there is one for the VT too, but I can't find it.
See what codes are displayed, that will point you in the right direction. Every time the engine light comes on an error code logged and stored.
And personally I'd avoid going to Holden at all costs. A GOOD mechanic will sort out issues with a VT just as easily for less money and they actually give a crap whether the problems fixed or not.
