    Default A few LPG Questions

Hey all, I've had a VT calais since around may which is duel fuel, and it never occurred to me that i don't really know anything about it and after seeing some mentions in a few threads i have some questions.

    1. How would i tell what type of LPG system it is i believe there mixer and injection or something.

    2. Are there any things i need to regularly maintain or have to check on or get serviced regularly.

    3. Would i see much benefit in getting a tune done, when i first got the car around town i was getting 25L/100km. But after putting in a 12mm plenum spacer and giving the inside of the plenum a clean im getting around 18L/100km and around 13L/100km on petrol in town.

Any help would be great cheers

Post a pic of your gas tank, your engine bay etc etc...

And I'll point some things out to you.

You have a mixer type so it is not injected.

Ideally you should run a dual map ECU that switches with your petrol/LPG switch. LPG needs more initial advance than petrol then static timing after about 2000 rpm as it has a different burn rate than petrol.

Picture 3 shows the Converter, you can see the gas lines connecting to the Gas Mixer which straps onto the intake tube just before the throttle body.

So you do not have injection as NAAF pointed out.

Mixer means that the gas/air is mixed in the intake tube/down through the plenum/runners into the combustion chamber, rather than the air following that route and the gas/fuel being delivered straight to the cylinder.

I'd like to learn more about the dual map tuning NAAF was talking about.
