my dad just bought a 2002 holden cruze for my sister to learn to drive in, he hasnt picked up the car yet so i havent seen it but apparently the steering wheel needs to be recovered, and as an apprentice motor trimmer its my job to do soheres the problem, it has an airbag. ive never dealt with a steering wheel with one before and dont know the first thing when it comes to removing them safely. any hints, tips or comments?

Removal:
1. Unplug battery.
2. Remove SRS/Airbag fuse from fuse box and wait 10 minutes for any residual power in the electrical system to drain <-- probably not necessary but it's not hard and you can have a beer while waiting lol.
3. Remove and unplug airbag from steering wheel
4. Place airbag face up away from the working area - this is so on the rare occasion that it goes off it doesn't turn into a projectile.
Reinstallation is the opposite![]()
thanks man, really appreciate it

As said above, be sure not to place it down on anything that could hold a static charge either, like putting it on the spare seat. put it on a wooden table or similar.
