So this is a question my mate asked me thinking I got my done by a mechanic but I DYI'ed.
He wanted to know a fair price for putting in four rotors + brake pads and new springs I said I would do it for him once I've finished my exams about a month away.
He wouldn't have it something about he wants it done before then and doesn't want anyone but a 'professional' to do the job.
So my question is what price would their try and pin him for? I thought local wreckers maybe a hundred or two. What does everyone else reckon?

All up it's about a 3 hour job. So with labour at $80 an hour, $240 plus $60 for a wheel alignment. So $300 give or take $50.
Yeah I told him a couple of hundred + wheel alignment but simple fact is I can do it for free having done my before no dramas and it will be $60 just for the wheel alignment.
But he wants it done immediately and I've got exams all this month but his choice I guess even though I think his a bit stupid saving cash anywhere with your car is a good thing he could buy a million other things with it.

realy depends on what workshop you go to and how lazy they are lol i was working at a holden dealership service centre and there labor was $120hr no bullshit... id say give it $500 just to be safe but you should have change left over for some performance partslol at the end of the day it all comes down to how much a hour the workshop charges and how quick they can do it... so its kinda hard for a estimate thats why i said a bit more then it prob would be..
Yeah cheers mate he ended up getting quoted $270 + the $60 for the wheel alignment but the crew are a brunch of lazy pricks if you ask me a 3 hour job over 2 and a bit days I mean sure they had a couple of cars but seriously there's more then one person at the joint I'd say about 4-6 were cruising around the floor but whatever lol

That's cheap lol. I work at a prestige manufacturers dealership in an expensive part of town and we charge $200 an hour.
To the OP though, just keep reminding yourself that it's not your money he's wasting. If he wants to get it done 'professionally' then let him. Just my 2 cents
