    Default UHF radio

Thinking about a UHF for the VP..

Personally I would like a compact unit, and if possible one with the controls on the handset..

I've come across 2 on eBay at the moment, but am struggling to find one that is programmable also so I can recieve local police etc... that arent scrambled yet

Well then Jack you need a unit that is a scanner also, not just a UHF radio.

I suggest getting the same one i have Jack, Its a programmable scanner and UHF, but it doesn't have Controls on the mic, it does have the detachable face for easy mounting though.

I was thinking about getting the one you used to have, But id sort of prefer something I can hide, and just have the cable for the mic coming out..

EDIT: Also, I've been doing some research, and it looks as if Australia is going to 80ch some time soon, so I might as well get an 80 channel radio.

Looks good, But I would probably get the shits with having to turn around to check it. Would be a bit dangerous changing channels whilst driving..

I've said it before, Uniden are trash.
Out of the 100 or so that i've bought over the years, one of those was a uniden and it lasted 3 weeks before i heaved it in frustration.
You want a good set, then GME are the go. Mine has the controls on the hand piece and mounts under the seat, very neat install.

Juzo, Only problem I have with the GME is that the speaker is in the unit, which I plan to mount under the seat.. I dont think itll be loud enough

You can always use an extension speaker.

    Correct.
Speakers can be mounted up under the dash. They're plenty loud enough. We use them in trucks and they're fine so in a car you'll have no such problems.
