Signs of a dead gearbox?
Hey guys just recently my 2nd gear has started to split drastically, I just pulled out the dip stick for the tranny and it's black and yellow oil? I gather the black is metal but is it normal for the oil to be yellow? It's a 2001 vx ss auto, what should I do first?

get it serviced would be my guess probably long overdue but sounds to me likes its on its last legs

Umm check your radiator/coolant reservoir to see if the trans cooler-in-radiator (if it has one on VXs?) has split and it mixing coolant with trans fluid. Its a chronic problem on BA falcons but that isnt to say it cant happen to other cars too. That could at least circle the cause.
Should be pink-red fluid in the trans, black and yellow sound.. not good.
Be prepared for a new trans / rebuilt trans.
