hey, im looking for coilovers for my s14 200sx.
since i have never had them on a car before i dont know anything about the brands or quality. however they vary greatly from $800 - $2000 was just wondering of some good brands that arent over the top expensive.
car is my daily driver and its pretty stock with just a few supporting mods.
thanks, steev.
wrong forum or just nobody knows ?
i'd take a stab no one really knows, but are you going for the intense camber/low look? there a s14 200sx down the road from me, damn it looks awesome! lol
realy nothing decent for that money, unless you want to spend $3000+. cheapest one i would recomend would be tein, but get the aust spec ones, jap ones ride crap.
my mates has tein coilovers in his 180sx, rides so smooth. unsure on what he spent tho.
Bilstein.......

Tein coilovers should be somewhere along the lines of $1500 maybe more for your car. They are said to be fairly decent.
VT V6 fitted with DMS gold 40mm coilovers, Whiteline adjustable swaybars & strut brace, 330mm AP racing brakes, Rebuilt 3.45:1 LSD and a Powerdyne supercharger
Check it out: http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...-v6-racer.html
car is just a daily, keeping it stock height no track work and id want 8kg front 6kg rear.
the 2 rear shocks are rooted so instead of spending 1k on oem suspension i thought i would spent a little more for some adjustables.
Yeah fair enough mate.

if you want to keep it stock height get some kyb agx adjustable dampening struts, great ride and handeling, have fitted them to wrx's and s14's before, and proberly cost you about $1000.00.
see if gsl can get you a price on them.
For the same price you could have any of the coilovers I posted above which come with camber tops and would be much better than the KYB's, although I do like the KYB Buddy Club are much better.

i shall look into all stated options, thank you for your help.
Hi Steve,
Unfortunately there's no such thing as a decent coilover for $1300-$1500. If you're looking to spend that sort of money, you'd be FAR better off getting a set of Bilstein as mentioned above. If you're paying $1500 ish for a set of coilover, by the time you remove all the novelties and macca's cred, you're really only left with a damper (the IMPORTANT PART!) worth a couple of hundred dollars.. at best. You'd be better off buying KYB and spending the change on sway bars etc.
Some of the Tein stuff is OK, but if you're after a decent coilover, that's actually worth upgrading to, and not just adding rep to someone's ebay account, you really need to spend $3k+ on something like DMS/Ohlines/Reiger/Penske etc. Anything less than that, and without a damn good reason to actually need ride height adjustment, and you're far better off getting something like KYB AGX, Koni Yellows, or Bilstein B8.
Bilstein and Koni I'll have to get to you tomorrow with a price, but S14 AGX are $259 each for the front, and $239 each for the rear. As far as springs go, if you're going to buy a high end shock, then stick to Kings ($145 per pair front or rear), of if you're going to use a cheap budget shock (like a Monroe, Ultima, etc), then get Eibach.
I won't worry with DMS etc as it's about double your budget, but work on roughly $3-$3.5k for the entry level 40mm.
Any questions at all with regards to suspension feel free to give us a bell, 1300 884 836.
Regards,
Greg

Nope, no different. More adjustment is available, that's about it. Since researching more, I would get HSD HR in a flash, very good coilovers for $1300.
