    Post CAI 3.8 V6 Question

Currently running the stock airbox, and looking to get this:
eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d

I had the rear muffler removed and replaced with straight pipe, so its running straight pipe from the centre muffler back,
which has made it sound a lot gruntier than stock, but probably not quite as good as putting a 2.5'' cat back on.

If I throw the CAI on in the link above, with increased airflow, along with a K&N Panel filter, will the car's exhaust
tone sound any more gruntier in any way at all when idling/driving?
Yeah she drones... But do I give a F***? ...No!

Probably will give it a little more deep down grumble. Intake noise will be nice too.

After you buy the OTR $150 + K&N filter + cleaner kit about $150 (don`t know what they cost)

You can have this from Mace.

I have had both the Mace one is better.

I called up Holden personally and they said I'd be pressing hard to find them apart from on ebay or going with a brand name such as SS, Ramjet etc etc. As they stopped being available from Holden as of 4 years ago I was told. Hence I would have grabbed one then and there.

yeah i dont believe they are telling the truth if they say they cannot get it.
i got one directly from them earlier in the year so its definately not 4+ years ago

all they need to do is look up the database with the code number and they should be able to tell you exactly how many are in stock, and whereabouts they are.
if they did not do this then they didnt try hard enough =P
i think from memory 2 of my parts came from interstate and the 3rd part of the cai was from the warehouse. and they did have a few of these units left.

I read in another thread around here somewhere that the OTR CAI setups can be detrimental to fuel efficiency if you do a lot stop start driving, as when you're stationary, they heat up and let mostly hot air in, whilst absorbing heat from the radiator and so on.

I want to confirm the reality of this before going ahead with mine.

Going with an OTR on a v6 is pointless as the intake is in the side so all benefits are lost in terms of air flow and heat
go with either the 2 hole mod or an enclosed pod of some sort

that said it is your car so you can do as you wish

Ah yeah, cool. I think I've read about that one too. Cheers.
