Well im back on the forum again. lost interest in it a year back, as too many wankers with absolutely no knowledge of cars, and that thought they owned a 10 second standard v6 commodore, with no respect for other people or moderators took over the website.
Im hoping that all this has changed.

Is the 400 going into the HQ?
Cheap, fast, reliable.....you only get to choose two.
yeah buddy, thats the plan. need to rework the turbo piping but other than that should go straight it.
I'm just going to sit here and look at that engine for the rest of the day... studying for uni exams has got nothing on it
haha cheers boys. yeah im meant to be studying also.
the van is amazing however ive come across the rare opportunity to buy a genuine hq sandman, which for those who dont know, there were about 100 made. so i might be purchasing that aswell, so i can have my genuine sandman streeter and my off its tits belmont.
cheers for the nice comments
Looks the goods. Will be good to have a build up on it. if you do a build up be sure to post it up in the HQ section so i can follow it :P
will do mate, only just started doing the floor pans, so ill see if ican start one.
Those manifolds look bloody weird lol
Definately changing my career to a sparky.....nice rides!

sab - haha barely any of this money has come from my sparky job, all from last job. and don't become a sparky no work, no jobs, and they still want a pay rise..... we are all screwed.
IIRC HQ Sandmans were all built at the end of their run in '74. Not sure how you could have one built in 1973. Right off the bat the guards on the van pictured are incorrect but that doesn't rule the car out as they could have changed many times over it's life. I'd be interested to see the trim plate on this car.

hahaha no mate, i meant im looking at a hq sandman that is not for sale yet that i have first offer on . mine is a belmont. sorry for the misunderstanding. the sandman im looking at however is born in mid 74 and has b trim code and metalic paint from factory so that should definately be one. also has gts guards and dash. so far we have come to $5000 im waiting to see if i can get him down a bit in price.
cheers Johnny
it is pretty gone, however still workable, but hey the last one i heard that sold was for $47000 to a guy out in moe who wanted to relive his teen years. it had a small block chev and perfectly restored so i hear, in that burned orange colour i think.
quick update - started hearing a noise in the 4by im hoping its just a uni but have a deep fear that its going to be the rear diff![]()
Being a 100 series Cruiser, it could be the front diff. Very common problem.
Woo another panno :thumbs up:
My first thought when I saw the engine was into the van with it too. Glad that's the plan![]()
ian - the front diff was replaced 2 months ago so i really really hope its not that.
hangman - yep its definitely going into the hq, just need to get the turbo piping sorted, and paint the firewall and she is good to go in
so just a quick update, the ss ute got written off by a street sweeper truck..... not what i wanted but money can go to finishing off the panelvan i guess and saving for a house.
no!!! how did that happen did u have insurance???
hey mate, a street sweeper truck rammed the car up the ass why itwas parked on the side of the roadits going through insurance now just waiting on their excess to be paid and agree on a payment.
cheers Johnny
