Hi all,
Just got a call from my father saying that the ignition key in his VX2 Commodore is spinning loose in the barrel. He
couldn't turn the car off, so I told him to pull out the fuel pump fuse. That stopped the engine, but now he can't
start the car.
The ignition key is just spinning loose in the barrel. The key can be inserted and taken out of the barrel in any position. Something seems to be broken inside the barrel.
Any ideas on how to fix fix this, please?
Thanks
Milo
A new ignition barrel. My mate had one replaced coast him $300 from an auto elec. To start it, if he puts power to ignition, he could bridge the starter motor, and that will get it running
Yep new barrel.......the tip at the back of the barrel has snapped where it enters the switch, very common problem with VT-VZ's

Thanks for the responses, guys. The locksmith is fixing it right now for $220. Tomorrow's rate would have
been $180, but my father couldn't wait.
Thanks
