    Default Exedy Clutch kits.

    Hey Guys,

I'm looking at the exedy clutch kit with the single mass flywheel conversion in a kit.

What I wanted to know was does the flywheel come machined as new, or does it need to be machined?

And what's the wear in time for clutches before you start giving it a bit of a harsh time?

    Cheers.

i would be a bit worried if something you bought new had to have stuff done to it?

also whats price have you been quoted?
when looking for my clutch (got DMF kit) but i also got a quote for an Exedy SMF and conversion kit. was $1350.
it was from autobarn if you cannot get a better price then that.
how about we make the pedals out of sticky rubber and the shoes with steel spikes. at least my shins would like that

Yeah I was just clarifying, never done anything with new clutches.. or old ones for that matter

PFFFFFFFFFT I wouldn't buy one for that much haha.

Exedy SMF conversion kit + new HD clutch for $1017 from our site sponser GSL rally sport, or $900 or so on ebay but I dunno if I'll trust them haha.

I hear alot of good thing about them, people say shudder at like 700rpm or somewhere around 700-1000RPM, but I'm not fussed.

Is it alot harder to push in than the standard clutch? I'm not fussed, just curious if it's nice and soft and spongy like the stock one. Because honestly, I'll be giving it a fair bit of shit.

They are a tough clutch and do hold well to high amounts of torque. Ready to use straight out of the box. Just thoroughly clean the faces of the flywheel and pressure plate as they will have a light oil film on them.
As for the shudder; well there's certainly none in mine.
Pedal feel will be exactly the same as with the stock dual mass setup. Atleast nothing noticable anyway.

Sorry, reason there's a shudder is because it's the single plate flywheel conversion

This shouldn't change anything, and is what I have in mine. Admittedly my whole rotating assembly is dymanically balanced with it, but from the box it should have the same external balance factor/dampening as the stock dual mass item. If your cam has any size to it, it'll give more of a vibe/imbalanced feeling at idle than the flywheel imo.
