    Default Loose Centre Caps!!!

    Hey guys,

Just put my interceptors on today along with the steel centre caps. Problem is, one of them rattles like an absolute bitch. I ended up taking it off as it was annoying/embarrasing :/

Has anybody encountered this before and got a solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers guys.

Thanks for the replies. No those aren't the nuts I have, I must have a set of aftermarket dome nuts.

Thing is, the other caps seemed to tighten up just fine???

I should still be able to get these other nuts new from Holden, yeah?

    Cheers

Where did you get the chrome dress rings and centre caps from for your rims?

Both off eBay. The dress rims are easy to find, the centre caps are harder to come by though. Second hand ones pop up from time to time but they ain't cheap

UPDATE. Well I tried the rag idea and yes it worked lol. But I would like to try and sort them out properly.

I tried the old wheel nuts of my stock alloys but this made them even more loose

Are there any other wheel nuts apart from these that will work better?

    Thanks guys

Ahhhh yep, IF my memory serves correct, they had those on the old commos somewhere from VB to VH, and im fairly sure they used 21mm nuts which are a bit thicker so they would hold the cap on firmly.

The caps are SLIGHTLY different shape to the plastic interceptor ones on the later models wich take those black 19mm nuts.

I'm guessing its luck that your current nuts are holding the rest on nicely.

If you do end up getting 21mm nuts, make sure you carry a wheel brace with a 21mm end.

Yep, just double checked on an old ebay listing, these caps were held on with 21mm nuts, hence why 19mm leave them a bit loose. Cheerz!

Hi mate, thanks for the help. The aftermarket dome nuts that I first put on are indeed 21mm and thats why the rest are holding nicely, but 2 of them were still loose. And yeah I carry around a Tbar and 21mm socket until I get another wheel brace.

hmmmm, hard to say then, but maybe theres not enough taper on those 21mm nuts or something, not sure.

these are the nuts that suit, does the taper on your nuts have much difference in them?

Hmm hard to say. I might rip one off tomorrow and have a look see. From memory they look like they have a similar taper though
