My fathers torana has a 355 putting out a little over 400hp.
Has done low 12's down the 1/4 mile, he uses the t5 out of a falcon.
So unless they make one for v8's and one for sixes then i cant see op having any problems.

Just dont dump it in third gear they dont like that at all.

The only difference between the t5 for 6 cylinder to v8 is the input shaft and bell housing are different.
internally the box used behind our 6 and 8 both Holden and Ford are the same as the Americans use in their mustangs.
So you should be fine unless you're going to be smashing the gears and dumping the clutch all the time.

You can also rebuild your T5 with newer Tremec gears & use the V8 ratio along with a special V6 input shaft. The newer gears are supposed to give the box a higher HP rating. Along with the V8 ratio gears you can replace other parts to make the box stronger. Another option is to have all the parts Cryo'd which is supposed to assist with a reduction in wearing of parts. If you can't do it your self (rebuilding the box), then ask Mal Wood or another gearbox builder about rebuilding a V6 T5 with V8 ratios.

The ford T5 has a shorter rear housing, which makes it easier to fit to a Torana because it doesn't put the shifter as far back. Not that it helps the OP, but I'm a trainspotter with a couple of beers under my belt
