    Default intersection speed cameras

So me and a mate are going for a drive. Light is green and he heads on in and i go after. Its an 80 km
road and i go after him at about 93km. As im pre much in the middle theres 2 flashes so obviously a speed camera. And he is pretty much bout to leave the intersection. My qustion is this. Can we both get fined at the same time. And was it him or me? Cud it be that by the time it had flashed and looked up he was exiting the intersection. We were doing roulghy same speed

    Hmm....

    Speeding? Wait and see.

Generally first through will be the winner. It wii depend on the technology used and frame rate of the camera. If it's digital you're probably stuffed.

In Darwin it doesn't matter how many cars speed through they will all be done.

So I would assume since Darwin is so behind in most things that the rest of Australia would atleast have the same.

If two cars are on the intersection you can argue your case. They will most likely calculate the position of the cars and work it out though. A similar case happened here where I work and the person who claimed they weren’t speeding argued his case but still did not win.

The camera knows which car they are after, so if you were both speeding you both get fined. I had a situation a few years back where I entered an intersection doing the speed limit and some clown (on the same cruise) flew past on the left of me triggering the camera. He got his fine about 2 weeks later and I never heard a thing.

I cant say for sure, but I would assume they would be less lenient if you incur lots of points rapidly then someone who rarely gets caught.

Take the 12 months probation. Perhaps it will give you time to reevaluate your attitude on the road and you might learn to slow down a bit.

Take the 12 months probation for sure. Its faster to drive very slowly than walk very quickly so hang onto your license and drive like a grandma for a year.

There should be Two flashes for each car that triggers the sensor. The flashes are timed at a set interval and they can calculate how fast you were going by how far you got between flashes. ( there are calibrated marks on the road to gauge the distance ) Hold your breath mate one of you should be OK. Good Luck.
