low oil pressure

I've got a red 253 in my Kingswood, after being on a freeway for a while, when I stop and sit there at idle, I get low oil pressure, it only lasts until I've driven around town for a little while, it seems to be pumping too much, standard pump, any suggestions?

light or guage possible faulty switch

It's only been since I replaced rear mains 2 weeks ago, it's not making noises so it's more annoying than detrimental, and the switch is only 6 months old

what oil you running ?

Valvoline xld plus, 20w-50, same as before, it's a relatively tight motor.

i would put a guage on it and see what pressuer you are getting when the oil is cold ans when the car is hot and see if the pressuer drops off

And it hasn't done it since, go figure, so I'm not worried about it now

It could be a sticky relief valve in the oil pump.
