I can see it being pretty hard. The welds need to be done almost perfectly.

Wouldn't be hard to make matey as long as you can lay a good bead of weld
but the problem you might have is getting it high enough to get under the car without bottoming the car out getting it up on the ramps ,
you would be better building a long set of ramps that don't flatten off at the top.
Make them 1 & 1/2 times long as the cars wheel base so when the cars on them you have enough room to put a drop in wedge in to chock the car from moving,
With it being as long 1 & 1/2 times the wheel base that will allow you to get the nose up in the air and you can reverse up it if need too .
Personaly i would be using 75 x 50 x 3 mm box for the job with some alloy checker plate tech screwed to the top and just for good measure make 2 drop in bars (so they can be removed )that run between the ramps for loading and unloading ,just take your time measuring and think about where you put the legs good and job done .

if ya get in to trouble pm me and i'll draw something up if you need it ......Dash

they do look easy enough to make and i weld chassis for pre-fab houses as a job and we just happen to use 75 x 50 x 3mm for the skids for them

hey dash , the long ramps are a great idea , might be the way to go....
just thought before i went ahead id see what others had done and what worked and didnt work...cant be any worse than the chinese stuff from super cheap thats for sure lol

Agreed, its only got to support like 1500kg a ramp anyway which is easy enough to fabricate a decent support to accomplish that..

Love how everyone freaks out... omg! he's trying something newwwww

I dont think anyone freaked out. Just the welds need to be done very well. Last thing you want is a car to fall onto you.

But he later said he has experience welding so he should be fine.

an inch of weld for one tonne... what one boilermaker told me lol bit of a joke but still it doesnt take a whole lot of weld to hold a decent amount of weight

i was only having a bit of fun. (thats why the "but seriously" part comes in)
like saying an electrician who doesnt have enough powerpoints in their house =P

make sure you do show us. though.
and im sure you can make the ramps for less then they are selling them for.
and they will look 10 times better aswell.

You need to make ones that can fall flat. so then you have lots of space under neath and its not all on a angle .
