Default Running a L67 with no S/C Belt

    Hey guys,

I was asked by a mate, and now I am interested to know, is it a bad idea to run a supercharged V6 engine without the supercharger belt? What problems would it cause.

Obviously the car would be down on power because the supercharger wont be spinning.

    Cheers,
    Ben

Create a huge intake restriction thats about all, might cause the PCV to work wrong too. Cant imagine it being overly good for it but i dont see it damaging anything.

Yeah thats pretty much what I thought. It was mentioned to me today and I wasn't 100% sure what would happen so I thought that I would ask here.

Low compression + large restriction = lycra wearing cyclists passing you.

Of course I don't want to do it, it was just a question. It came up because a WH Stato came in to work and it had a L67, the belt had heaps of cracks and a guy I work with asked if the belt snapped would it still be drivable

Its fine and perfectly driveable just a little boring. And as far as i know its not a restriction at all because the blower just stays in bypass the same as it does when you're cruising around off boost (most of the time).
