i want to lower my vn with ultra low springs in the back with shortened bumpstops and superlow in the front. and a thought just crossed my mind because its live axel could the tail shaft hit the floor with it being that low because if it will ill only put super lows in.. it wont look as good but id rather that than a hole in my floor
It might. but metal does stretch, just panel beat it back. It's under the car no one will see I but you.
yeah i dont really want to panel beat my car if it was touching id rather just get higher springs to start with
There should be two spacers between the floorpan and the centre bearing mount bracket.
Have a play with that to re-align your tailshaft angles to stop it hitting the floor and to maintain good yoke angles.
You can also get adjustable upper trailing arms to change the angle of your diff to further adjust the angles of the yokes on your tailshaft. This will also help with axle tramp with lowered suspension.
Dont forget an adjustable panhard bar to keep the diff from shifting across to the side when you lower it wit SSL's else you'll prob scrub out on your guards.
Well my blue commodore you see in the pic. That was very low and the tailshaft would only hit on big bumps. Can't tell you how low they where because I had a mate that worked at pedders and we used rav4 springs(cross referenced the measurements). But also it was a sedan and I had no bumpstops only the one over the diff which was probably an inch from the diff.
I dont know of anyone who has had that issue even running no springs...
The tail shaft will never hit the floor, the springs will bottom out or the diff will hit the bump stops before that ever happens.
Take the spacers out of the centre bearing mount so that the tailshaft is at the correct angle, as already mentioned.
