Hey guys,
Just wondering your opinions on the Pedders $14/28 Point Check and Report.
I have a little, but INCREDIBLY ANNOYING, squeak in my '07 VE Lumina and thought I might just get the whole thing looked at.
Any idea on how long it takes for the check? As I'm hoping to get in after work one night.
Cheers
if you do the check emphasis and re-emphasis you dont want any work done... get the report then get it fixed elsewhere cause they will charge you an arm and a leg to do more than lift a spanner
i got one done, fixed a steering problem i had from some loose parts, didnt charge me for it, just the original price for the point check, and i waited there while it was done, less than an hour
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
For $14 bucks who cares really. Least they give you a full rundown.

Be prepared to take your car to the wreckers if you get one done. I've seen seen plenty of Pedders safety check's that have many thousand + dollar repairs needed to repair problems that were simply non issues. Essentially you are paying them $14 to drum up a shitload of business for them IMO.
Reaper
+1 to what Reaper said. Read somewhere else recently that they refused to give a car back stating it was not roadworthy and they had to do the repairs. Guy threatened to call the cops and report his car stolen so they reluctantly handed it back. A check elsewhere deemed the car safe with no major issues.
It depends on the store really. Some are good others just like to rake you over the coals.

I took my VS to pedders once and asked them to check all the bushes under the car and make sure everything else was alright. Dropped it off in the morning and picked it up after work, they said that everything was fine and nothing didn't need to be replaced. I was surprised because the rear trailing arm bushes were worn really badly (I thought so because it was difficult to keep the car in a straight line), and the rear control arm bushes were worn. I was wondering if they even looked at my car or not.
I ended up replacing the rear trailing arms and bushes myself but i'm going to have to get someone else to do the control arm bushes because they look like they are pressed in.
Ferntree Gully and Moorabin branches from experience are good and I only went to them because they came recommended from customers.
The others can GTFO.
JAX and most other suspension companies do the same $14 suspension check that Pedders do, the only difference is that they do it FOR FREE don't go to those smiley ####s, they wanted to charge me $2000+ just to fix something that my local JAX fixed for $370!!
Enough said!

These safety checks were all over ACA and Today Tonight a while back and been on numerous times. It matters not what car you take in there they will give you a bill claiming there is $2,000 - $3,000 worth of problems with your car. It is like a science you will get a bill for this much.
I took my VE to Midas for a service and they claim there is an oil leak, since I have owned the VE for over 2 years it has never had to have a drop of oil refilled, amongst other things the bill came to over $2,000.
Oh and if I remember right they even took a brand new car from dealership in and claimed there was a ton wrong with it.
Yes Pedders did a check on one of my cats and said that was a shitload wrong with it ... Took it to wholesale try said it was fine just needed some minor work
2010 SIDI sv6 ... 180atw ... more to come
well maybe go to pedders in nowra, i was happy with the service i got, no false claims of work that needed to be done and they fixed an issue i had and didnt charge me for it
