    Default Bigger Tyre, Go faster?

    G'day all.
I had a look in search and didn't see anything so don't hate if there is already a thread on this, i just couldn't find it.

    I've just upgraded from 235/45/17's to 245/35/19's.
And i'm nearly 100% certain my speedo is 3-4kms slower than what i'm actually doing.
    Anyone able to verify this?
Maybe everyone has been driving slower on the freeways for the last week, but i feel im speeding.
    Thanks in advance.

    Reece.

If the overall diameter is larger than the stock size or what you had before, then yes, you will be going faster than what your speedo was indicating with your old size tyres.

According to this Tire size calculator your speedo is 1.7% slower.

You are correct. If you raise the rolling diameter, your speedo will read lower.

This website looks pretty cool. It even offers a little calculator to calculate the difference in speed reading

Not sure how accurate it is though haha.

although i've been told that the holden speedo's read faster by about 6kph at 100kph. I'm running the same tyre as you and so far from speedchecks and things like that my speedo now seems to read pretty well dead on
