Default LS1 throttle body on a 3.8 VP series 2 donk

Has anyone put an LS1 throttle body on a 3.8 series 2 VP motor? Do they just bolt up and what sort of improvement should I expect. (The old girl is going to get a crow stage 3 cam and extractors to help with the breathing) The motor is a low km stock VP series 2 bolted to a T5 in a TG gemini.

    Thx

It won't bolt straight up. You'll need to make some form of sandwich adaptor plate. The LS1 cable operated throttle bodies mount with three bolts, not 2 like your vp. The inside bore of the adaptor you'll also need to taper from 74mm down to 63mm (or whatever the vp throttle body bore size is).

Don't waste your money and time on this.. The restriction will be in the inlet manifold itself.

    Forget it.

Agreed, the inlet manifold wont allow for the flow that the throttle body will be capable of. Mass overkill

Is this gonna be registered or a burnout pig?

Also Hakhawk done this a few years back - it seems the Australian Series II VN-VR L27 engine came with the one piece LN3 (series 1 VN) manifold. But I dunno if the l27 2 piece flowed any better

there is a manifold you can get, i have one. its the l27 manifold. im still working on getting it done. needs flipping around, modify the nexk to bolt on a vn throttlebody(or in my case, a ls1 tb ), modify the belt setup to clear the throttlebody, then sort out all the hoses and sensors.

whats your aim in using a different manifold? standing out from the crowd? more performance?

Thx for the feedback guys. I race the car at lakeside raceway in the Top Gear series and was looking for a bit more grunt.

Unfortunately, it seems an aftermarket manifold is required to accept the larger bore and sounds like more trouble than its worth. (just seen a heap of 'modified' throttle bodies on ebay and wondered how easy the change was.' I might look at another way of getting the air cu increased.
