    Default the return

after many years unhappy with holden (i had a huge dummy spit) ive decided it's time to return.

so i have given this a little bit of thought, and i want to get myself a ute of sorts. been looking around, and the go seems to be a vz or a vyII ute. after a manual.

what should this little black duck be looking at when getting a ute? racq will be inspecting it for me before i buy the car, but are their any obvious signs i should look at, i ask this cause i havnt had to deal with used car markets for quite some time now, everything ive had has been brand new.

    cheers

if your willing to go to WA ive noticed the utes over there have extremely low k's are manual and cost a good amount less then the ones over the east side.
i noticed this when looking on carsales last night.

also are you looking at a 6 or an 8?

if it was me looking at another car i would make sure there is no panel damage on the outside (im sick of scratches... yet have a black car =P )
make sure the interior isnt damaged, stained etc. and it isnt covered in dirt and what not. could mean a hard life/not cared for.
try and take it for a test drive. listen for any knocks, rattles, noises that could mean soemthing wrong or frustrating.
check the engine bay and underneath for any leaks or what not.
see if they have any service receipts, or logbooks and the books that normally come with the car.

i would just be looking at it as though it would be how you want it.
i mean ive looked at cars i wouldnt mind buying on carsales and in the pictures its not even been vaccuumed so its immediately crossed off my list
i mean if they havent even cleaned it for a few photos. could they have ever cleaned it etc

but yeah good luck with it
how about we make the pedals out of sticky rubber and the shoes with steel spikes. at least my shins would like that

I was a Holden man for most of my life, but bought my 1st Falcon ute 4 years ago because it had more interior room than
a Commodore ute(VE wasnt out then.)
Am now on my 2nd Falcon ute(BA XR6Turbo)
I am not sure that I would go back to Holden if looking for another ute.
But, as previously asked, 6 or 8? Personally, the Falcon 6 shits all over the Holden V6.
V8, Gen3 is probably better than the 5.4 Ford V8.
Just make sure no crash damage, service history is there, although, the way dealers service these days, that aint worth
    looking at.
Let your RACQ do their job for you once you find a suitable vehicle.

also see if you can jump online and check out the vehicle details.

i know in victoria on the vicroads website you can chuck in a rego and check if any finance is oweing, if its written off.
personally i wouldnt buy a car if it has finance oweing. too much could go wrong and what not.

however this might cost you in other states (it does in NSW to get any info)

fair enough, forgot about that check=P

but how do you get the vin and engine numbers etc
without asking the person who is selling it =P
best i can get is the last 4 numbers. which you require more info then that for the Revs check =P
using this link btw Rego check
