    Question Which car?

    Hey guys,

I'm looking at upgrading from my current ride and I've been looking at getting a VYII S/Storm or a 05 Mazda 6 Series 2 Luxury Sports.

I was going to go a VZ but I've heard the Alloytech is thrashy and thirsty and the 6-speed isn't great. Anyway prefer the VYII look over the VZ and the ecotech sounds like a better engine. The Mazda on the other hand looks nice, good on fuel and has great features.

I'm looking to spend around 15-20k and still on my P plates so unfortunately no v8s or turbo/superchargers just yet

Any suggestions or info would be great.

    Thanks.

I have a crazy suggestion for you, sit down for it, drive both cars and then decide which car you like better!!!!!

It's really personal preference, personally I will drive a Mazda when all the worlds Commodores have all rusted.

I've driven both and still can't decide they're both good for different reasons.

I wouldn't let a bunch of randoms on the net decide for you.

Just wanted some opinions on them. Ultimately the decision would be up to me just wanted some input to knock me off the fence.

What do you need it for? Is it just for you, or is there a partner and kids? Do you travel long distances and need boot space? Are there others constantly sponging a lift off you?

Personally, the Commodore is what I would get - a little more room to relax in.

I would go the Mazda, I have a couple of friends that have the Mazda 6 and they are a very nice car.

You are comparing apples and oranges. What kind of car do you really want? Decide what you want your car to do first, then which one to choose will become obvious.

The Mazda is the better quality car IMO but it may not be the right car for you.

I am no expert, but isnt the Storm a ute?

In this day and age where fuel costs are a real big thing, I would be going the Mazda.
Then when you can leagily drive a V8 or turbo, get some real grunt then. You would have saved more money
    with fuel savings as well.

But in saying all of the above, I dont have an economical car in my yard

as all above had said it is up to you.

    look into the resale values.
especially seeing you want an 8 when your off your p's i would assume you would sell and get the 8

also seeing your avatar is Yamaha. i would assume you could potentially have or be getting a motorbike.
owning a ute you can just chuck it in the back
how about we make the pedals out of sticky rubber and the shoes with steel spikes. at least my shins would like that

Capri it's just me and the girlfriend so two seats is all i really need.

Dakster I'd use the ute to carry a bike around and just general use. Really it's a self indulgent choice, I'd love to own a ute. The Mazda is probably the more logical choice being a 5 seater and can tow as well. The fuel should balance out since the Mazda uses ron 95 and they're similar economy from what I've seen.

Drewie my friends mate has the luxy sport and they love it to death.

    Cheers boys for the replies.

If you're towing, I'd go the Commodore. I mean if you're just towing a bike on a trailer you'll be ok I think, but if you want to tow a boat or similar, I'd steer clear of the Mazda myself.

I'll give it a shot, parents had a Mazda 6 not a Luxury Sports but it was still a great car.

Mazda should be alright for the towing I'd do. Redbook says it's rated for 1000kgs towed braked so it should be all good.

There's no utes for sale that I like and there's a decent Mazda I'll check out. Sick of waiting so IDK.

Buy a V6 Statesman, good on fuel, can tow, the bike will fit in the boot (probably not but it can still tow it), its a luxury car, win.

If your towing a bike I would go the Storm. A storm has lots of potential for modding and looks 100 times better than a Mazda. A Storm will always look great and when the time comes to sell it you wont lose as much value as you would with a Mazda. Plus one more fact is that your a man and you should drive a ute. lol. Another thing you should do is buy a cheap car that wont cost to much to mantain, and cruise around in that till your off your P's

man go the vy, easy as piss to look after, you'll be able to get advice of this forum so easily aswell.. parts are dirt cheap. mazda, okay its a nice car, but you'll learn a shitload via these forums, i did, as for the alloytech, i rkn good thinking, the ecotech is an easier engine to service n loook after, vy 2 is my favour n my daily.
