I would also try and get a VS Commodore, also has the newer ecotec V6 engine over the older Buick V6's.

Agree, go with the VS. Personally i wouldn't bother with GAS, it wastes too much space in the boot and a good VS doesn't use that much petrol anyway.
Given their age now i'd recommend an Acclaim, series 2 if you can find a good one. Acclaim has most of the good gear ... ABS, IRS, AC, Cruise control, power mirrors, Auto ... but doesn't have the electronic stuff like climate control and power windows which probably won't work properly anymore. Anything under 200,000 genuine k's is a good find therse days.

Given the age of a VS, it actually doesnt make a lot of difference in price whether you go for an upspec model or an executive. Its more about the condition of the car. Make sure everything works the way it should and looks the way it should and you should be ok.

If you can pick up a Berlina or Calais with under 200k on the clock that seems pretty well maintained then you have a pretty good basis for improvement. An Acclaim is certainly a good option too if you can get a series2 with low ks and dont care about sparky windows or climate control.

Dont buy one with gas unless its a great deal, have it fitted after you buy it. There is still a $1500 subsidy on gas installations and if you have it fitted you can have the more modern liquid injection system fitted. Most cars with it already fitted will have the older mixer system, which is less efficient and cant be used with a blower.

If you find a bargain with the gas already fitted, still worth buying. They are still better than petrol. The mixer system will still cut your fuel bill in half, you can always upgrade later. People who speak against gas have never used it.

Thats the problem I had with mine. It had the old mixer system so when I done the engine conversion I had to pull out all the gas system.

Usually not too much, depends on how well they're maintained.

I'll be selling mine soon, looking for around $5k for it. But I doubt many people look after their car as much as I do.

Sorry missed the 'how much' part. For something as nice as Hamas the price is pretty much whatever you both agree its worth. 5 grand is real high for a VS though, it would have to be just as special as his.

My project ride is a fully optioned VS Berlina on factory duel fuel with 210xxx on the clock. It was in pretty good nick till I started pulling it to pieces lol.. $2700 on ebay.

How much are you looking to spend?
