just wondering what the maximum exhaust temperature would get to on a turbo running 15psi at say... 7,500rpm for 10 seconds or so under load... or in general the max it would get to.
for eg, as i was not able locate a "plug taper" bolt for removing my egr pipe i was going to use a brass one.
Brass melts at around 900 degrees as compared to cast which is around 1200 degrees
soo if this brass bolt/plug melts its pretty much goodbye car.
i did some googling but could not really find a definitive answer as it varied from thread to thread.
ty's.
other options are steel bolts ofc but havent found one with the right thread.
Just for something to think about, VHT flame-proof paint (for headers etc) is rated up to 1093 degrees C

thanks.
you dont want to get much hotter then 750*c
north of that and you will start having problem
if its all running good you should be under that temp
if its for only 10 sec you would be around 500-600*c
cheers GM
sorry for not replying i eventually got onto nissan (a good person this time) and they have the part on order so in the mean time ijust filled in the old open bolt with liquid steel and drive it very nicely until i get the proper one. it has held up so far.
