Default VE wheels on Pre Ve , Nuts question lol

Ok I already know they have to pre drill the centres out etc , But my question is .

Can/do the orginal nuts used to hold normal pre Ve rims onto my vs , Will these work on the drilled out VE rims ? or will i need to get a new set of nuts ?

I have the normal acorn shaped ones with a solid end and the ones that look like normal nuts with the hole going all the way thru .

    Cheers

Mate, these are the type of wheel nuts you should use if they are mag wheels:

If they are just the steel rims, then the ones you have described will be fine.

Going by how big that wheel nut is in that pic you must have massive wheels!!!!!
That's the shape of the wheel nuts on my VE GTS the only difference is that they open ended, so you should be right.

Yep they are the ones and will be fine.

I have seen too many cars come to work in the past that, 1. Have had Alloy wheels and 2. Had the wrong wheel nuts. Reason they came to work is the wheel nuts dug into/damaged the alloy and the wheels have come loose damaging the wheel, nuts, stud, amd anything else from the axle, ABS sensor, etc.

We have had a few Ford Falcon 1 Tonne Utes that have had that problem.

The VE wheel studs are a larger diameter so the holes in the rims are bigger than pre VE wheels. I think people use the smaller pre VE nuts but I would be concerned they may be un safe as the contact area between the smaller nuts and the VE large holes may be a problem. You may be able to buy nuts similar in size to the VE nuts but with the pre VE thread.

Just resleeve lug bolt holes to suit 12mm studs, safest option and only paid $40 perwheel.
