Default too paint or not to paint?

I have a blue vy sedan with 17 inch vz calias wheels that are alloy colour,
thinking about painting them black. I would love to powdercoat them
but I'm on a budget and want to do it myself.
Whats the best way? (clean, light sand, undercoat then 2 coat)
    any suggestions?
    I've only got 4 wheels so I can't test with a spare.

if you use the search feature theres probably a how to on this, but yeah probly give them a quick clean and a light sanding to get through the clear and to rough them up abit, then give them a wash and put some kind of dirt and wax remover on like prepsol, then mabey do a coat of primer if they have a few scratches or gutter rash just to help hide them abit otherwise they will stand out after painting, plus with primer the paint binds better, then mabey do two light coats of paint, its probly best to lean them against something when you paint them instead of laying them flat on the ground, im no spraypainter but ive done simular things in the past, depending on how much research you do and how much time you put in will obviously effect the outcome of how well they turn out, hope that helps, if im wrong about anything feel free to correct me
