I have got a new fuel pump to install but the car is on stands atm so im not sure weather starting the engine is a good idea
what are your thaughts?
Scotty
It should be ok to start it up, just as long as the cars sitting stable and secure on the stands.
Personally I would at least put the wheels back on so if it falls it's not a disaster.
Thanks thats a good idea
or put a two old stockies under it
It will be fine. I had my VH up on front stands for months and started it numerous times. Just be careful, and logical about what you do.

I always have the car running on stands when I do an oil change..... That way I can dump the oil straight away...
Always ensure the stands are placed in an appropriate ans secure location, and that the wheels on the ground are chocked to prevent little accidents. Starting on stands will be fine, is the best way to find drivetrain faults and noises that are not able to be found when the car is not running.
Crikey I hope your stands arent on the sway bar..
Otherwise yes the cars fine to start just firmly chock the rear wheels even if u arent gonna put it into gear.
btw nice toolbox![]()
