Hi guys,
Firstly, I don't know alot about cars under the hood, so any help is greatly appreciated.
I have a VT which has done 300,000 Kms and the engine died on me the other day. Finally came to a ticking and hissing hault and got it towed to the mechanics. Mechanic said a hose had blown off and the engine was as dry as anything and was seized.
So I need a new engine.
Do I get a reco engine? I haven't got a clue where to start looking. Do mechanics do that for you or is there somewhere I can go that will help me find one?
I live in Berwick, so anywhere in Melbourne would be best.
And what would be rough price for a reco engine and labour?
Any advice about anything I have said would help me a great deal.
Thanks in advance!
Jon
Mate seriously id look for a vx engine with lowish km's might set you back 800-1000. Better than 2500 plus for a reco engine.

Yep second handy under about 180,000 kays should do you fine. Should be around the $500 mark.
most wreckers will give you the engine with a 3 month warranty... some will also install as well
Bloke at work got a buick from a wreckers and installed in his vr for $600 so ecotec will cost a bit more but shouldnt be too expensive
