I would buy the VY, the handling, ride quality and aesthetics are going to be relatively the same between the two even more so in STOCK form because its essentially the same car with different lights, wheels, grill etc. If the VZ where an 06' model bearing a 6L powerplant I would give it further consideration but in this case I would take the ls2 given that she checks out on the rollers/when inspected.
But having said that I would wait for a manual unless you would prefer an automatic as stated above.

For all 8 cylinders...
Hey guys just another update, I have found a 2004 VY series 2 clubsport for $19000 with 171kms, I offered them $17k and got knocked back.
Is that a good price on it, it's got a pretty good service history, front end might need repainting as it has alot stone chips. Interior pretty clean. It had a overhauled diff and new steering rack, twin 3" exhaust. Sounds and drives good. Just want people's opinions if you reckon it's worth it.
I wouldn't go higher than 17K on a 04 VY with 171xxx on the ODO. High kays imo. My 03 VY has barely 80xxxkms. Stone chips, yuk. New steering rack? Ran into a kerb?
Doesn't sound very well kept.

I don't reckon 171 is much for a 8 year old car lol. I offered him $15 to start off with, that offended him I think. I reckon 17k is enough as said.
I regard 20000kms to be the average distance travelled per year.
$15K seems a tad on the lean side. If he doesn't bite on $17k, then best move on.

Lol damn is that average I heard 25k, I do 40k a year as a daily drive to work.
So around a 110 km round trip. Half a days wage just to get to work. Sucks to be you in Sydney traffic for that long.

did you end up testing the LS2?
Yes got it test. I offered about $2000 less than he's advertised, he refused. I checked the vehicle and found out he had not notified rta about the new engine. It had a cable operated throttle body, I thought LS2 had a fly by wire. Took it for a drive it just didn't feel as good as an LS2 I have drove in the past. Took it to Sams performance and it provided around 242rwkw 3 times. So it wasn't 280 as he mentioned. Also found out his staff that were apprentices installed the engine and he had to replace the radiator, starter, water pump twice about 2000kms after the conversion. So that just turned me off completely.
I have now purchased a VY Clubsport R8 with 83000kms for $18500. So far so good for now.
The VZ SS is the clear winner base on what you've outlined.
Reasons:
- Newer
- Sunroof
- It's got the engine the car somes with. There always seem to be a few gremlins, no matter how small, with conversions.
LS2 needs heads to be anything work poking a stick at. So nothing that special.
Sure will, I pick it up this weekend hopefully. I haven't got big plans for it but the usual bolt ons.
