    Default Hello Everyone

    Good evening everyone,

I'm from the U.S. and love Holden. Ive been following everything Holden since VE came out and absolutely love the car. I was planning to buy a G8 GT but didn't make it in time to buy a new one. Personally the Holden's look better, I think hood scoops are retarded. Nonetheless I love everything else about the car.

From what Ive heard the VF Commodore will spawn a Chevy variant which will be sold as a high performance Chevy sedan in the U.S. starting in the middle of 2013. Can't wait for that to happen. Then again, the new ATS is also coming and that too is one sweet ride.

Anyway, I would love to hear your guys' stories about your cars, good or bad. Only from those who have the VE/WM or newer though, I could give a rats ass about the older versions.

Thats not a very nice thing to say at all. If you only want to talk about VE/WM models, then why not post in the VE/WM section (thats what its there for). No need to say that s*** about pre-VE Commodores.

To be honest, pretty offended that you wrote that.

saying your more interested in VE/WM would be better then saying you dont give a shit.

seriously man, they have VX commodores over in the US, and many variants of earlier commodores all around the world.
so maybe join street commodores, maybe more your style.

Glad you like commodores. It's nice to have a car industry the arse isn't falling out of.

Buy a Camaro. As the majority of Commodores in Australia are not VE's, expect most people to be a tad offended by your dislike of their cars.

Well that won't make you popular around here.

Trying toning it down next time or you might feel the wrath of good old aussie back lash defending their home grown products.

So. Some stories about VE/WM? Ok lets go.

    -Stretched Timing Chains
-P Brackets Throwing Out Rear Alignment
    -Bluetooth Dropping Out
    -Mismatched external colouring
-Cam's losing their hardening ruining lifters in brand new engines
    -Dodgy Fuel Pumps
    -Interior Trim Misfit
    -Seat bolster trims breaking
    -Brakes wearing uneven
    -Hood linings miscolouring
-Front bumpers needing readjusting from factories.

    ......

I could go on and on.

Sure, they're a good car. But they're FAR from the best product Holden has ever produced.

Pmsl at those that seem offended by 'thread starters' opinion on older generation commodores. I don't have any affliction towards any commodore pre-VR Series 2/S & don't rate most Holden H series, if any.

I don't see the Holden Commodore having much of a future tbh.

Well that's my own preference, I don't like pre-VE Commodores (or the Monaro based GTO). I don't like the Camaro either because they ruined the whole chassis trying to get that outrageous design. I love the normal VE/WM because its pure and perfect.

I'm more into the sedans and sportwagons though, not really a fan of the Utes. I would say something else but I'm already hated by 80% of the forum so I'll tone my self down. I'm American and Assyrian and yet I feel like the most mild mannered person here. Anyway I'd love to hear more from the VE/WM owners and its a pleasure to be on this forum.

The American car market is too biased towards outrageous design. Ever sat in a Camaro? That hunkered down profile and high sills make it almost impossible to look out of. Another personal favorite car of mine is the ATS, which looks to have visibility issues, though not nearly as bad as the Camaro's, but doesn't suffer the Camaro's problem of weighing as much as a fullsize sedan (since it's based on one). The Commodore is easy to see out of and is a great day to day car. I would love to have a Series I Calais V V8, keep it nice and stock. Keep my Equinox AWD for snow, have an ATS-V for fun and a Malibu for economy.

And FATMOE your a douche, I could care less whether you welcome me or not.

You have clearly never sat in a VE then. That rear spoiler, and massive A pillars aren't exactly great for visibility.

    ?

Ive sat in the Pontiac G8 GT, barring the fact that car came with a small lip spoiler, the visibility was great.

You have clearly never sat in anything from the U.S., high sills and thick A pillars seem to be mandatory on those cars.

How is this any different than what 'thread starter' stated by saying he "didn't give a rats arse about older-models". Think you need to look in your own backyard before you start throwing names around, friend.

Holdens reputation was ruined and their woes realised well before Holden released their 'Million Dollar Baby'. The VE & VE2 was fanfair smoke & mirrors for what they knew was instore for the Commodores' future. (Don't believe me? Lets see what happens)

Holden doesn't want big, thirsty vehicles these days. or multiple platforms which aren't compatible, globally. Holden tried to offset this in the VE models with introducing Factory LPG (as Ford were doing dedicated LPG's), AFM & Sidi. Mazda 3 & 6's sales reflect this. Government departments and the like were asking fleet companies for the smaller vehicles not only for lower fuel costs but also for lower Carbon Emissions by ordering diesel variants as well.

Thank the 'Free Trade Agreement'. And thank the Labor government for making families fork out more & more money for everyday necessities to help motivate this trend. GM and Holden know that the Commodore is not a viable product anymore. If anything, (and this would be wishful thinking), expect the Commodore to be made in China (or another foreign country) and imported back into Australia. Like everything else that was once proudly Australian owned & made.
