Default VZ wagon or VE wagon??

My mate has a r34 skyline which is giving him the irrets! (short story)
He wants to trade that in on a Holden wagon.
Money won't be a issue as has finance approved already
He looking at either a vz or ve wagon, only the base models.
Now he isnt a massive car nut, A car to him is a means of transport A-B so to speak.
Now the question is which would you pick and why?
    Which is a better car?

    Cheers guys

If money is no issue, then it's a no-brainer. VE every time...

Is there any main pros and cons that he should be aware of?
    For both vz and ve?

Depending if he needs the back of the wagon to move stuff around..View both interior rears before deciding,
The VE looks way smaller than the VZ + the VE has crap opening height.

Yeah as above if he wants a wagon so he can carry wheel barrows and stuff or go camping with the family and their bikes and surfboards get the VZ. It is the last real commodore wagon.
The VE wagon isn't a real wagon, it was designed for women who can't drive big cars.

well you say he only wants ot get from a to b.
so i would also be looking at fuel economy.

if it helps. and he drives like an old man (like my old man) he can quite easily get 8L per 100 out of a stock VZ Exec wagon.

i do not know the figures on the VE wagon though. but you should look into it.

also get him to roadtest both.
i know in the old mans VZ i can very easily see everything.
however driving the VE it had waaaay to many blind spots for my liking.

but its all up to him and what he prefers/likes.
how about we make the pedals out of sticky rubber and the shoes with steel spikes. at least my shins would like that

I'd go for the vz. Although the ve exterior looks better (imo) the interior let's it down (again IMO)

I'd choose the VZ over the VE based on aesthetics, i can't judge on the drive seeing as i've never driven one but i'm a big fan of Z wagons

To get from A-B with no frills + load carrying capability I'd choose the VZ. Mrs has one for carting the kid etc and it's great! I have a VZ adventra (4wd and for sale if you are interested ) plus a VE and like them both. Drove the VZ nearly exclusively over the summer holiday.

I'd go with whichever model i could find the cleanest nicest example of at the lowest price with the biggest boot.
I wouldn't touch an Omega personally. I'd go a nice VZ or immaculate VYII Berlina , Calais etc wagon before i'd lay down cash on a VE Omega Wagon. Once or twice i've even considered upgrading the VE (sedan) to a nice VYII or VZ wagon. Then i get home from holidays and wake up to myself...

If he wants it to throw work stuff in i would buy a vt wagon for $2000 and save a sh!t load of money he can even put a vz front and seats etc in it.

I have a VZ wagon and have been looking at the VE for a while now.
My only concern with the VE is that it's a "sports wagon". Which means it has F all space in the back for bikes, tools etc
I use my car for work, being a Chippy, and have a shitload of tools that fit nicely in my VZ. There is no way they would fit in the sports wagon.
