Just bought 4 g8 20" last week, 2 were new and 2 weren't, and as i needed 2 new tyres i took them to bob jane just before.
I got them back with massive chunks and scratches out of my tyres and rims, like really noticable, and then they tried to cover it up by putting all this greese and coating shit over it, I didnt notice until i got home and by then they were shut.
so has anyone else has an experience like this, and when I ring them tomorrow what do I say?
it's not like its one minor scratch, its heaps on every wheel
do you mean they scratched the face of the rim edge where the tyre sits?

I've had rims chipped before but never chased it up. The tyre shop just denied it... i just cracked the shitz and left, never went back
I guess the only way you can prove it is to go to the extent of taking photos in the shop before fitment as insurance.
Some shops will admit fault, but a lot deny it.
In their defence though, fitting low profiles on precious rims is a tough gig.. i wouldnt want to do it. Yet there is no excuse to hack the fk out the rims
Hit me up with some reputation points if i've helped you out! (Star in the bottom left!) Cheers!

Its not just one scratch though otherwise i'd let it go, its on every rim, and 2 of them they didnt touch, so it would have to be when they drove onto the hoist, not really any other explanation.
I know they will deny it, but why else would they cover all wheels in greese, oil and other shit?
It will be from using the tyre changing machine , and not using the rubber protector / doing it wrong .
Almost did it at bmw once when I worked there in the tyre bit
its a bitch changing low profile tyres on a 20" + rim
I have 16''polished alloy rims. The only thing that's happened to me is what I could only describe as 'circular scratches', that is, I think when the tyre place took my wheel nuts off with thier rattle gun it either slipped off, or the nuts came off and scratched against the rim right near where the wheel nuts attach.
It shits me, but there aint much I can do about it.
Tyre shops are the only people that do work to my car apart from me. I would even fit tyres myself if I could balance them properly.... Trust no one!
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
my backs didnt get changed and they got ####ed the most, probably even made my tyres un roadworthy by taking chunks out of them, and i know for a fact it wasnt my, i only used them once and that was driving to the store, was a main road the whole way, no gutters or anything in sight.
Bob Jane in Ballarat damaged one of my brand new 19" sigs, they told me about it and offered to fix it. But I never got it done because it isn't that noticable and they wouldn't have got the colour right. They would have have to respray the whole rim and it would have ended up being different to the others. Thought that there is no point making it look worse.
They didnt bother telling me, they just tried to cover all them up with chemicals.
Yep ive had this happen, you need to find a tyre place with people you trust. I go to a Jax tyres near my house as they all own high performance cars and always take care when they change tyres ect on customers cars. They always have real nice cars on the hoists there as they have a great reputation.

I had Lizza tires in bayswater ruin my wheels on my old vn.. They done the lock nuts up tight and lost the key thingy for the lock nut.. They had to chissle a hammer the lock nut loose and took chunks out of the face of the wheel and would not replace my wheels but gave me new lock nuts..
As previously said, its a bitch putting 20' low profile tyres on rims like that.. Especially on G8s because of the slightly raised spoke where its connected to the rim.. Myself and my mate managed to get tyres on his with out damage, so no excuses for the tyre shop.. Go back abd complain.. Post pics of damage too..
