That looks quite handy. I usually jack the car up though then change the oil.

The only real downside I can think of is a decent rock hitting it and the oil coming out. Needs a cap or a pin like a grenade would have.

I think you would get more crap out with a big hole than a small hole.

I had something similar years ago on my XY Ford , But mine had a flexable cable and a tee handle which bolted to the engine bay. You pulled the handle and twisted it 90 degrees to drain the oil .

wow no more mess lol, still have to change the oil filter which is what usually makes the most mess when changing the oil.

Very similar to the oil drain on my ride on mower with a briggs and Stratton engine. It will probably be classed as an illegal modification because you might cut someone with it if you ran them over.

Eh. As has been said. Small opening, unprotected etc.

They'd be handy on something that had limited access. We have a long hose and blockoff union at the end on our skid steers because they're a prick to drain the oil on. A length of hose and a nipple valve is also handy for clutch fluid. Means you dont have to stick your arm as high up next to the box on the later model Commodores.

Luckily in Commodores it's very easy to drain the oil using the sump plug, and once you've done a few oil changes you don't get any mess anywhere and don't get oil on your fingers.

Hino Melphas come with these factory, we take them off at work because they get clogged up with grit and mud. normally you have to brake clean them and wire brush/duster gun them to free them up enough to drain.

Just push up on the sump plug bolt as you are undoing the final threads, you won't get any oil on your hands.. Or at worst chuck on a disposable latex glove.

Very easy, although it never helps when you've had a few beers before you start

I know a lot of the 4wd guys use them with a hose, saves taking of the bash plates.

yeah i have done countless oil changes on jap imports that have those fittings. useless as fk. the hole gets clagged with dirt, the fitting locks in place after a few heat/cool cycles and you end up having to use a tool to get it off, then when its loose nothing comes out so you take the whole plug off as you wouldve done normally.

usless waste of money is useless.
