I, *INSERT SELLER NAME* from *INSERT SELLER ADDRESS*, have sold *INSERT YEAR MAKE MODEL VIN* to *INSERT BUYER NAME* for the total cost of *INSERT PRICE HERE* on the date of *INSERT DATE*.
Signed *SELLER SIGNS*
Thats all it needs to be, doesn't need to be typed, can be hand written. Thats basically what the guy gave me when I bought my WH Statesman. I was going to copy it but the receipt is in the car and I currently don't have the car for a couple of weeks at least.
Double post caused by internet lagging.
#### you Telstra
Include in the receipt, V8 engine number ????? and 6 cylinder engine number ?????.
DO NOT forget to get the seller to write whether or not the vehicle is encumbered.
never heard that one before. we always ring vicroads before we purchase trade-ins to check the status of the car, think its 30 bucks to get the certificate
edit* OOOH qld different?
I've always written it on the receipt just in case. You can never be too careful.

Does not matter where you buy the car the receipt should ALWAYS have the words SOLD FREE OF ALL ENCUMBERANCE.
Those few words saved me $2900 in 1991

I, Sleazy H. Arry, hereby state that I have sold my 1984 Holden Commodore, VIN Number 8675309, to Sam Sucker.
I have accepted the sum of $50 as full payment for the car and all contents and extras, including various car parts.
I declare that the vehicle is unencumbered in any way, and it is mine to sell.
The car is sold on an as is/where is basis and no registration, vehicle inspection or warranties were offered or implied.
Signed,
Sleazy H.Arry (seller)
Sam Sucker (buyer)
i dunno how you boys do it in other states, but a piece of paper saying that it is unencumbered is just that: a piece of paper. if you dont check with vicroads, you dont have a leg to stand on.
Definitely check for moneys owed on it, just not worth the hassles because the bank will get first pick and youll be left with sweet faaarrk all.
thanks for the reply's, i have brought it today a 85 berlina but this is what i signed
"To Nathan ******
Has paid in full $600.00 cash for one 85 VK Berlina and parts
to one (his name) at (location)
14/3/12"
then his and mine signature
and whiteness signature
should i just add the VIN when i get the car in a couple of days
he has a copy of the receipt and it was hand written out
