Help! VY Electric Aerial Install

Hi all, Im trying to replace my mast and cord on my vy ute elec aerial,

I cant seem to remove the old mast from the aerial base as I believe it says to remove on the walk through
It pulls up and then stops and no matter how hard im pulling it wont budge
The black bush I have tried my best to remove but have only ended up damaging it and parts of it may still be holding it in there

Any ideas please? It doesnt help that the aerial is still attached to the car otherwise Id probably have more pulling power

I have never looked at one but if it is like most cars the complete aerial has to be removed from under the guard.

Yeah I had my aerial bent early on when I was driving and had to replace it, ended up costing close to 300 bucks to replace/install. It took them a long time to get it figured out, fairly sure as he said...removed under the guard.
