One of my mates has an old Celica, and was thinking of doing some outrageous things to it before he flogged it off. Anyway, we thought up an idea of bolting an 12V hair drier into the intake, or even better...to divert the aircon into the intake. Hows that for an intercooled extremely mild blower for nothing!!!....Meh, probably wont work anyway, the power drain of the aircon probably outweighs the blower power. Anyone else got some cheap and random ideas???

Your right on the power drain issue for the aircon .. takes more kw to run it, than it provides by cooling the air. The electric blower fans in either your aircon system or the hair dryer wont flow enough air, and will end up being a major restriction in your intake .. youd be surprised the ammount of air a car can suck in at high revs .. any blower you make would have to be able to sustain that, and then EXCEED it .. bolting up a petrol/diesel powered generator motor to a fan might work, but then your spending as much on fuel for a 2nd motor as you could probably gain by just dumping more fuel into the engine

Take off the airbox off alltogether or even the hose to the throttle bottle, hey no restictions, but contamination imminent , but if your gonna flog it off who cares.

Oh wee man, i guess the gasses in the fart could boost octane levels

We could remove the bonnet for a better cooling effect (who cares about aerodynamics), then we could put a petrol air compressor in the boot then run a massive pipe all the way to the air intake, for a limited boost time span of boost!!!

Strap a small ceiling fan over the engine, then when you try to sell the car, tell them it's a supercharger. I've wanted to do that for years.

I have heard that av gas makes a good difference power wise but kills your engine etc quite efficiently. (Prolly similiar to the grog fart ) Depending on how far you want to go I would be getting run ups on hills and jumping shit- ramps etc or taking it to a dirt bike track and letting loose. Don't think you can do much to the engine without $$$$

    Have fun

I heard that when the crewman was being tested, they took it for a reliabilty test around the nullabour or northern WA of somewhere like that. Anyway, apparently they had to fill it up with avgas because petrol is banned around those areas due to the solvent misuse problems.

True? Must have a strong engine in them. Alls I know is that Av gas burns VERY hot and I doubt that the old Celica could withstand it. Could be a fun experience though. How much/L is av gas worth?

PS- the reason why I said to take it on a dirt bike track is cause thats exactly what I do with my lil MAZDA 323- Its an old shit box that survives for the soul purpose of suffering my wrath when I feel like being destructive. And I have loads of fun doing it. Its better then taking it out on my VS anyway

av gas is about 120cpl if you can get it
you cant just rock up to the airport and ask for it
if you do get it mix it with normal fuel and you still get the octane boost but not so much heat althogh who cares about heat if your going to thrash the beejesus out of it hey if you do get it have fun.

just one thing oplease dont do it on the roads theres enuf ########s out there already.

Being from the country, I totally agree that the only place to really thrash a car is on a gravel road where nobody else is. It's all about street edicate.... race tracks are for racing, dirt roads are for thrashing, and streets are for getting to work and back in the safest possible way (I have to admit i'm a bit of a granny driver in the city...i just could not live with myself if i bent my car!!! ). Anyway, one of my dads spare cars is a little mazda 323 hatchback, and damn that thing could do awesome handbrakies!!!!

I think the aircompressor would be the way to go, we could probably boost it up to 40 psi or something like that!!!! It would be like a less efficient shot of NOS for about 20 seconds!!!

avgas runs fine in any car,but not reccomended in efi cars as it will stuff the oxy sensors, cant remember but i think it is either 100 or 110 octane.great stuff anyway

the things we do when we were younger,i remember when i was about 16 i used to live in hectorville so we werent far from the foothills ,we had an old austin a40 that we used to take up into the foothills on a track and hoon around this track ,it went through creek beds up and down hills etc but we had a great time in it,until the wheel studs started snapping off,in the end we took to welding the rims onto the hubs,,,WHAT IF WE EVER HAD A PUNCTURE,,,,didnt happen so wasnt a problem ,but thats the way 16 year olds used to think
