    Default Nearly busted

Was out with GF tonight for a dinner buffet... bought a bottle of wine and had like 3 full glasses of it, GF had one.

Feeling tipsy GF offered to drive but I insisted i was fine.

Driving home, I make a right hand turn... BANG a booze bus

For some retarded reason panic takes over me and I pull over...

Immidiately a marked SS pull up on the opposite lane and stops...

I decide that I must drive up now no matter what... drive up, they breath test me and I try to be "sneaky" i barely blow into the straw... trying to somehow mask my alcohol... no good, he asks me to do it again with a big blow. I do it again, properly this time and he then asks me to show him my lisense...

I show it to him and he says that Im just under the limit (i got full lisense) im like "What was the reading?" he couldnt confirm it but then this other cop (the patrol car that spotted me) walks up and makes it clear he was not impressed with me... i declare i was tripping about the whole situ and the cop says next time i might nto be so lucky... <_<

They let us go... and gave me a little leaflet thats states i was just under .05 yikes.

I thank God for not being fined for drink driving... heck I hardly ever drink... only really have a few with good food and on New years.. thats it!

careful guys, dont drink and drive otherwise you might not be as lucky as me!

if im driving i dont drink anything.... its just not worth the risk!

i had a mate one night who was at my place for a bbq. he had 2 beers. he got pulled over at the booze bus... naturally two beers you would assume your fine but unfortunatly that wasnt the case.... he was just over!

Agree wholeheartedly with that zero. I'm known at my cricket club for never consuming alcohol if I have to drive (which is 99% of the time because I live 30km's from the club). I won't put other road users at risk, and I hope more people have the same mentality.

I'm on my P's and I have to abide by zero.. I count the drinks I have and wait 90 minutes after drinking a pot (285mls, I think NSW ppl call em a middie) and I wait 2 hours after drinking a can of beer..

I usually stick to lights though..

I very carefully time what drinks I'm having and leave some time as tolerance.. I've been breathalysed a few times like that.. Always come up zero..

I find it very handy...............(so does tha wife!! To test me !!!!)...

As 'lucky' as you? Personally, i think youre pretty silly. Not just for your sake, but you had someone else in the car. I am not saying i have never been behind the wheel after a few, but i look back now and realise i was f***en idiot for doing so. You weren't lucky, luck is winning the lotto.

Yeah it could of been avoided from the start and your gf could have drove, Thats the simple truth.

However, you were under the limit so I'm not going to call you an idiot. The only thing bad about it was that you were unsure.

Alchol effect people in different ways.....

I weigh 120K and it takes me 10 drinks to even get effected by alchol... At a mates bithday where I didn't have to drive i had far to much to drink even skulled a pint of vodka and lemonade on a bet....and then blew into a mates breatalizer device and blew .05.....Felt wasted.....stil on the limit....no way could I have driven....

My wife who had 2 gl wine and a ****tail was 0.1 a mate who was driving had 3 beers and was .06. Body mass and you own metabolism has everything to do with what you "BLOW".

Moral of the story is there is really no safe limit... EVERYONE should have to blow 00....

I love driving, but am always happy to have the girlfriend drive, she has nice legs, ankles and a smile.

Yes, I recomend you let the lady drive, even after one drink, if she too has drunk, find a hotel bed instead.
Purchase a hazard-warning triangle for your car to improve the warning given to approaching traffic at both crash scenes and vehicle breakdowns. Keep it in the boot. I gotta agree, safest thing to do is not drink at all. Naturally alcohol is going to affect different people in different ways. But something else that is of concern is just how some people count drinks. Most guys I know will think yeh i can have 2 beers in the first hour and 1 every hour afterwards. But they are fools (and trust me I let them know too!), they count the beers, not the standard drinks, the beers these fellas drink are often at least 1.6 standard drinks and they are just too stupid to take that into consideration. :b:

Yeah Julie.. Read my post above though.. You treat beers differently.. That's why I said different times for a pot (or middie) to a stubbie or can..

But if you count your drinks properly, it's fine. I always do it and leave a bit of time as a threshold.. I've never gone wrong..

It's great to see so many of us with the attitude that putting others at risk is unforgivable. I have absolutely zero tolerance for people endangering others on the road by drink driving, breaking road rules, or just plain risky behavior. I am on my P's for a couple of years yet, so I am required to blow 0.0% but even when I am allowed up to 0.05% I will still be refusing to drive unless I am 0 or very close to it.

Any delay at all between when you see that kid step onto the road in front of you and when you hit the brakes could be the difference between the guy discovering a universal cure for cancer or lying in a morgue.

Thumbs up to all of you responsible drivers
