What do people reckon is the better of the workshop manuals?
Gregorys or Max Ellerys?
I want to buy one for my VR and just wondering on peoples preference.
Both cost the same (around $55).
Paul.
I'll admit I only have the Gregorys for my VR so can't compare the two, but I've been using it for the last 3 years (since I got the car) and find it quite good. I can't imagine how people work on their cars without a manual like this. I'm also interested to hear if one manual is better than the other.
VR Series I Exec - Panasonic HU, Focal splits, Earthquake amp. 17" AJR rims, lowered, strut brace, 2.5" exhaust, pacemaker extractors, CAI, K&N filter.
I have heard that both have small advantages, cant remember what they are right now. When I have the cash I think i might just buy both.
Max has more information on engine fault codes and diagnostics.
Max is also more vague, trying to cover a few models in the range.
Gregorys is laid out in a more clear format, easier to follow and has better quality pictures.
That's my 2 cents. Both are good, but i tend to use the Gregorys one more.
gregories is for the DIYer with very limited knowledge
elleries expects you to know most of what gregories has in it and delvs deep into diffs and transmitions where gregories says take it to a professional
they are completely different manuals so its not whats better its what do you need to know
i started off with a gregories and then when i got into diff rebuilds and trans repairs i went out and got an Elleries
im not admiring your car im looking in disgust
go gregories to start of with
IMO both are crap...nothing in either for the Supercharged 6's or Calais
