    helly/ludicris or serving member,

what do you think of the below? what are the guidelines with dealing with bikies. I see what rat is saying, there doesn't seem to be any equality before the law when it comes to bikies. (i've never experienced a tactical retreat!) in its context, this was all about harleys which produce well over the db limit. (every second one!(?)

Totally off the Commodore track here....but I have ridden for years.....but never owned a harley...( except for a 350 cc AMF 2-stroke )... have been with mates as they worked on them....( cos its a HD...and if ya wanna ride it , u gotta work on it..lol..and they all owned pickups....looool....)..... and a lot of theose shotgun pipes actually have , like, washers , welded inside them...and glassy stuff sometimes too...(but not often !! ).....but yea...they are loud.....most Police I have spoken to over the years have said they have been told to just leave Bikers alone.....too much hassle mucking around with them.....and most of them are quite legal fellas....( no warrants etc..)...just because they look scruffy......... so a "Tactical Retreat" is usually in order......

ok copper please answere me this

ill start off by saying i dont hate cops and have the ut most resect for them we all hate criminals and dick head drivers on the road... but

I have been defected and told the officer that my car was legal and that he cant defect me for it (wich it was BTW) now this copper took it personally thinking i was a smart ass and defected me for being too low (wich i wasnt he didnt measure or anything)

now here in SA that means regency park you must go...... so i went to regency with nothing changed to the car what so ever and passed first time and found my car to be dead on the legal hight 330mm back and front. so my car is now back on the road.

now what pissed me off was that i had to book and pay for regency inspeciton and had to wait over a month to get in.

this ment i had my car off the road (waisted rego and my time etc) for absolutly no reson but this copper bieng a prick. so what i want to know is can i sue this copper for my lost money, time, inconvienience and rego to get mine back at him or is there no point since i cant really proove that it wasnt too low before. (i know i have little to no chance of this)

so really im not too worried about that now anyway (still am pissed thow) but what i really want to know is how can i prevent another bad cop from doing this to me again..... i mean can i somhow get a book of the laws and stick it in there face with a tape measure or what. it bothers me immensly that i could go through this same situation again and again. do you have any suggestions and where can i purchase a vehicle law book to save myself god help me if it were to happen again. also does it mean anything if i carry my regency pass papers with me or wont they help either?

anyway what can i do or what sould i have done?

    Cheers
    Adam

ps hope your not one of those "bad" cops
im not admiring your car im looking in disgust

Troy, I assume that you are talking about Canb/Qbn cops. My best mate is a ex-AFP Canb cop. I remember having a conversation with him about this type of thing when he was still on the job. Apparently the Canb AFP cops have been sworn in(?)/ given dispensation by NSW to cross the border and catch/book people if they are chasing someone. Reciprocal arrangements are also in place with the local NSW cops to have the same ability. He did state that these powers are only used when the other State's cops can not be brought into the situation when needed.

I hope I got this right as it was a few years ago.

Yea??? how about the day Princess Dianne died...the Outlaws & the Odin's Warriors had a shoot-out in one of Mackays main roads.... over 300 rounds fired, 4 Harlies shot to shit, one bloke with his eye shot out, a few other flesh-wounds, shop-fronts bullet-ridden........ Minux. There is no way in hell you can bypass the speed that GPS system logs you at.

The GPS system measure the time taken between two points (little bit more then a bees dick) and calculates your speed. The GPS system are in no way tied into the EMS of the truck. It merely takes readings from the various sensors around the motor. But it does not take a speed reading. Thats done by the satellites. The GPS tracking system used in trucks (different to the Navigation systems) does not process speed at all. It simply sends its position to a central server multiple times and then the server calculates the speed itself and displays it on a terminal at the company headquarters or anywhere logged in.

If there is a truck showing 100km at 2300rpm in top gear....then it's a simple fix! Remove the Satellite from the sky and repair/replace it. The vehicle speed reports on GPS TRACKING devices will soon be used as evidence in the court system as they cannot be modified by ANYONE
huh? I never said they have bypassed the pseed via gps? I was stating why people see trucks over 100 km/h, when by law detroit cummins cat etc all have to make them exactly 100 km/h not above. Anyways, the reports cant be modified, but they can be lost. By the way, who did you work for?

Thats the biggest thing is that you will never get a Bikie to make a statement (ever) Bikies will not even give evidence in court.........
And like you said yourself people tend to turn a blind eye when it comes to bikies as they are scared to give evidence.......
For any serious offence such as ones that happened in that shoot out you would need a victim and if no one comes forward or want's to complain then nothing happens.

And I don't know where you get your info that bikies are treated differently than others. In WA they are very closely monitored and are dealt with the same as everyone else.... and yes defect notices are served.............

But like most people they just fix the problem, over the pits it goes and then replace it back with the old parts...................

Who said that we don't pull over bikies? In Qld we do it all the time.

There is a specialist operation that's run to keep tabs on their activities, runs, drug labs ect but for the rest of the time they get treated as a vehicle on a road the same as anyone else.

And Yes, INSANESINNER, they do scare me. Some of those guys are F**KING NUTS.

Nothing to do with my pathological fear of fat men with tatoos.

That's exactly right Malscar... It's called being a 'special constable' it has nothing to do with being a bit special at school... The Tweed head cops go over and do jobs at Kirra and Coolangatta all the time, like every sinlge night. The same thing happens at Moama, Euston, Balranald, Dareton, Albury... Etc

To whom ever brought up the 10% issue... That's not really the way it works, it depends on the state I guess and the specific equipment being used to nab the speed, but up here its about 3k's no matter what speed you are doing... The issue is not how far out your speedo may be, its how accurate the epuipment is that is reading your speed in our car...

I'm with the other lads on the Bikie issue...

They don't get away with anymore than you or I or any other bike rider in my books. You can pull over a group of Bikies and issue tickets and have no drama's as long as you approach things the right way. They have a way of doing things and a chain of command. I have had blokes getting slapped of the side of the head by the Sergeant at Arms for giving me cheek on one occasion...

Its not the bikies in leathers that you really have to worry about (although some of them are quite nuts and very unpredictable) it the ones that wear Armani that you need to be really careful of. Bikies also drive Porche's and Merc's you know!!! They're not just the stereo type bearded road warrior anymore. Most of them actually take the focus away from what they are really up to!

cant say much about police and bikers on the open highway/ roads etc but once a year (adn i dont know who they are exactly, i *think* they come from adelaide).... a group of tatt covered hairymen come on their noisy bikes and camp on the centre nature strip across the road from here. they are noisy all night for 2 nights (although dont start their bikes thank christ) and always leave the place clean (although i dont know where they toilet!) BUT point is if anyone else camped there they would be told to move on, (or fined?).

it is in the paper here every year and people dont like it (hell i dont like it so close), its always debated because of the lack of regard for the law - yet the police say the same thing every year "its not worth the upset".
Now i agree with the local cops, i wouldnt set foot in there and do anything other than shake hands or have a beer. However it sucks that some of these 'gangs' see the need to threaten the law like that, to a point where they are above the law.
I know it isnt all gangs or clubs or whatever but obviousely this feeling exists for a reason and this is one of them!

I've personally never been threatened by a bikie...

And I ahve never had knowledge of a job that has not been attended to because it involved bikies...

I attended a noise complaint, (not that long ago when I was working in sydney) of all places in birchgrove, one of the most affluent harbourside suburbs in sydney. The door was answered by what I can only describe as a MAN MOUNTAIN, wearing thew cliche leather vest and what appeared to be a visual history of the world, for skin...

His first comment was "Oh f*#k it's the LAW!" He then appologised and said "Sorry Sir, I'll just get the boss." He walked away and got an older guy wearing a pair of jeans and a 'country road' T-shirt and a nice pair of shoes.

Inside was about 100 other massive men and a few very blonde women. We were appologised to endlessly and the music and volume of every person there went down about half immediately... No problems, didn't get called back and as far as I know, none of the neighbours got shot for calling the cops.

Now this was the home of one of the most senior bikies in sydney (in his gang anyway) and we knew that going there. We didn't send the state protection group or the two biggest guys at the station... It was just me and the Sarge. And we didn't even contemplate not going...

Maybe the police were just tied up with other things, who knows... Maybe they don't have the resources to send police to such a large gathering of people. If I had known that the above incident involved over a hunder people, regardless of whether they were bikies or not, it would not have just been the Sarge and I going, we would have taken at least another crew or two...

Where do these guys have this annual meeting??? For interest sake...

heres another one for the resident cops...

I go to work at 3am every morning. there are a few roundabouts on my way.
three times now i've seen a patrol car go round roundabout without indicating.
not that i'm wanting to be a smart arse, but can you take video of this sort of thing and bring the officer to justice?

or flash your lights and pull him over??

although I would imagine there would be some sort of crackdown on my car!

dunno if its a meeting, stopover or what but it happens in Warrnambool, vic. touch wood have not seen it in what seems like over a year so maybe they ahve a different route, or timetable etc.

It certainly isnt a matter of police being too busy, its in the paper each time and the poilce say the same thing each time, that it simply not worth the hasstle it might cause.
I understand what youre saying about bikers, ill go to the pub while these guys are in town and they are nothing but nice, if not even gentlemen.
even though these guys are so polite and relitively well behaved they are still making the decision to ignore the law and camp in a public avenue!
its the yukuza's on a small scale!

This is the thing though, what offence were they committing. Were they committing 'criminal' acts or just doing what the rest of us do on new years eve???

There are lots of things that get let slide in the interests of public harmony... Imagine if every guy who said "F#ck" on new years eve in a public place got thrown in the bin... They are people too, and don't get me wrong, some of them do some very very bad sh#t, and are just down right crazy and quite possibly psychotic. But if the main thing they are doing is making some noise and pissing on, then they aren't out shooting someone or manufacturing and trafficking amphets are they...

I don't know mate, but it seems to me that just cos they are bikies people want to suggest that they get away with things... Lots of other people ride harleys and don't get defected for their exhausts, you don't have to be a 'commanchairthrower', or 'tipsy-poker' to ride one at least not the last time I looked.
