LOL, the amount of posts here that refer to "someone I know" or "a friend of mine" is gold.

Just admit it - that "someone" is you!

Right, so on saturday night I (or was it a mate of mine) was on a cruise with a different car club, and the guys I was following accidentally went past the meet point so they pulled over to check the directions. We were up in the Dandenongs at 1am, so I pulled off the main road onto a TINY dirt track, then saw that it had a little parking bay on the right so pulled in there and walked around the corner to see what the others had found out. (see my awesome diagram)

Once we had figured out what was going on, I went back around the corner to find a couple nice police officers pulled up having a look over the car. Once they had found out everything on my car is legal they wrote me up a ticket for "parked not facing the direction of travel". They barely said 2 words to me the whole time, and didn't even check my license even after I accidentally told them my old rego number and the wrong address that it was rego'd at. (I move houses a lot)

The question is, being that it was 1am and I was TRYING to do the right thing by getting off the main road, and then off this tiny back road, is the letter I'm about to write going to do me any good or is it just going to make me feel better and get a bit of a rant out? Besides, I was parked facing exactly the direction I was travelling

EDIT: Where I pulled over: http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en...276.38,,0,2.86

Ask the copper thread, does this apply in all states of Australia or just in Victoria and NSW?

And Davey G force, i reckon you'd be right, and i will gladly admit to me doing something or it being my car anytime, better to have that info then try and run from it....lol

its so u can see the whole truck and not ram into the trailer its common sense just like the relectors on the road and lights on a runway to see where they are

The exemption is immediate family only, i.e Brother, Sister, not cousins.

I was fined the other day for having a radar detector whilst travelling from Sydney to Melbourne. I admit I'm stupid for using it, but it was more of a matter of interest than out and out hooning. I, however am a Uni student, (electrical engineering, hence the curiosity) and I've been fined $1300, which I can't afford, for this offence. What is my best course of action? Would writing a letter asking for them to go easy be in order or what?

Pay the fine for the offence you just admitted to doing?

I'm not trying to get off. Obviously I know I was stupid for doing it. The problem is a lack of money to pay the fine.

Didn't see it mentioned on the infringement, but I thought this may be the case. Thanks!

Yeah they have payment plans. There should be a number on the back of the infringement notice to ring about payments. Have a talk to them about it

Perhaps before shooting your mouth off, you might like to get your facts straight. I was lent it by a mate. Nice to see there are some decent people on this forum.

Nah, I hear ya, spose it's a fair call. But yeah, sure as hell not looking for sympathy, I was a d*ckhead to borrow it, let alone use it. As you said, lesson learnt

Was also reading that the fine can also include 9 demerits. Doesn't state it on the fine either, so I'm hoping I don't get a nasty surprise in a few days.

Lol, yeah, impounded and going to get destroyed. Friend told me he only spent like $60 on it so didn't care. He's more upset that it's cost me so much. I guess it's no wonder I got caught considering the price of this thing. Note to self 'never borrow from friends'
