308 engine number

Heres an easy one for everyone except me...where on a 308 block do I find the engine number?

Block protrusion from number 1 cylinder (exhaust side), LHF cylinder if at front of car.

Sometimes if Block has been machined 'Decked' the number is removed.

My Engine was modified and has its number missing because of 'Decking'

now i know this is an old thread, but wat do u do if u cant make out the engine number, can u register the car with it?
