Default Supercharged vs. V8...

No, this is a poll...

I am getting used to the idea of keeping my 03 VY...

But it's a 6... and i don't want to keep it stock, has rims and stereo done, next will be some performance mods...

But before I start on the non-recoverable expenses I want to get opinions of people that have had both Stock V6's and Charged 6's... both with the factory charger and aftermarket added on ones...

Can someone please let me know their feeling on it? Wondering about feelling of the car, performance, tweaking, response etc...

I really wanted a V8, but trying to be sensible with the cost of fuel these days and sort of for insurance (some places actually charged more for a s/charged comie... go figure...)

hmm id imagine that a super6 would chew as much fuel as a v8, i reckon a super 6 sounds good though

Fuel comsumption between the Super6 and the GenIII was fiarly similar, with the 6 winning out by a little as far as i remember.

Have you thought about turbo, SC is always using fuel, but with a turbo, you can drive to work and back, not boost, and use the same fuel as normal (and no one would ever know it was turbo'd)

hence the reason i'm going turbo on mine (its an 8 though, but same theory)

although all have there pro's and cons, this is just my opinion and what i'm choosing with my car.

Go the V8, it will be quicker with a simple edit. The Gen3 was a great motor as long as you dont get the piston slap problem. Holden dont have great sixes but they have V8's that are easy and cheap to get alot of power from.

The 8 is a heck of alot of better on the highway than the 6. If it were me, i wouldnt be able to bring myself to work on a 6.

Let the figures do the talking...

http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au...L&key=HOLD03LJ

You just got to make up your mind... do you want fuel economy or not

Either way you'll need another engine...unless you go aftermarket supercharger.

Not alot of difference between motors from 0-100...

I think you'll find a super6 would probably be the cheaper solution...same engine mounts, same front suspension, same brakes. Dropping in a V8 would require alot of work, new exhaust, brakes, suspension, roadworthy testing...etc...etc

You may aswell take the 10 G loss and go buy a v8 by the time you're through...

Hmmm... good info there... Thanks for the comparison too...

Just gotta see what I can do... Makes it hard having no money to start with, thats why was looking for straight trades for last couple of months, but nothing worked out..
