Funny Ford Story
Funny Ford Story: the Australian built straight 6 from the nineties was specced by Ford Aust as only needing 5% coolant inhibitor. The 5.0 litre V8 was specced at 50/50 because that was the spec the engine plant in the USA had and they likely would not honour any corrosion related failure claims if Ford Aust failed to have 50/50 water/glycol.
Anyway, poor buggers with their BRAND NEW 6 cyl Falcons go to the snow and because they did not read their owners manuals (which says to add more glycol if you go to the snow) anyway, get there, all good, while they are drinking egg nogs or whatever, the (5% glycol/95% water) coolant is starting to freeze in the engine. Result is cracked block and blown out radiator. Nil warranty or fight like hell to with Ford to get assistance
and to be honest that's the only funny thing I can think of for a Ford apart from the godawful styling of the AU
never happen with a dunnydoor, they all have good water/inhibitor ratios ex factory
Nissan was the same with the RB30. GMH bought motors and transmissions from Nissan. If these failed, Dealer would claim off GMH & GMH would claim off Nissan. It was strictly controlled but that's how the industry dealt with it
