Default Commodore V8 - buying advice wanted

hi there.

I'm looking around to buy my first ever V8 Commodore.

I'm after a bit of advice from anyone who has maybe owned a few and could save me making any mistakes they have lready made.

I'm open to any VP/VR/VS SS's, auto or manual. Is any particular model of these better than the rest significantly?

At present I am looking at a VP SS 5 speed, a VR SS 5 speed and a VS series 2 SS auto.

Anoyone here had both these and got a comment on which was better and why?

Are the manuals a lot more fun or are they not worth the trouble?

Any major things/problems I should look for when checking these particular models out?

any help greatly appreciated.

cheers

Manuals are great, but expensive when one of the gears wears through a housing hold(not sur eof exact term) but its a 2000 rebuild for it, doesnt happen often. The onl thing i'd check for is burnt out valves or ring problems, both are quite easy to find. Accelarte and deaccelerate hard any smoke appears dont buy it

Also problems with the manuals, the diff cradle cracking. If its snapped, you'll know cause one wheel will have a **** load of camber and the other wont.

Most would say go the VS cause its newer, but only when buying a V6 does a VS outweigh a VR, so go the VR (and cause its manual of course).

Whats the prices of each car? BTW i want a VP SS in manual......
