Default Oil for Vt V6 supercharged (modified)

I am looking at servicing my car, I am normally running 10W30 Helix oil. But I was wondering if there was another oil that is better or more suitable for my car!

Thanks

If your constantly redlining the car than you should get Fuchs synthetic oil. Independantly tested as the best protecting oil. Also try using pureone oil filters.

Either Castrol Edge Sport 10W-60 which was formerly known as Castrol Formula R Synthetic 10W-60, same stuff just different name I am gathering. I'm running this at the moment and haven't had any problems at all.

Mobil 10W-40 would be the other choice, although I have never used it myself.

It's a bit like buying fuel, I won't buy anything but BP Ultimate whereas my sister despite me trying to tell her what's best is happy to use the petrol voucher at Woolies each week.

what is the go with the oil weighting? I am now running helix 10W30 as before when I was running 20W 50. it seemed to make the car work harder than normal.
Thats why I am interested in hearing the reasons behind the weighting choice.

Thanks

Thicker weighted oil take longer to get the car lubricated. So for a newer engine you should use what the manufacturer states.
There's a thread that talks about why the Ecotec motor should be using thinner oils due to the oil release.

I brought some 10W30 and when draining the old oil , I noticed it was very thin so I went back to the shop and picked up a bottle of 15W50 which stated on the bottle for late modle high performance forced induction vehicles.

Thanks
