Question Clutch on way out???

G'day all,

I have a manual 2000 VX wagon and have just started to notice that if you put your foot down at low revs, mostly only noticeable in 4th or very low revs in 3rd, but it revs up without any pick up and then drops down abit and responds. what is casuing this as im sure it wasn't doing it when i bought it 8 months ago. Im not a clutch rider and haven't thrashed the car at all, Ideas?
Cheers, D

stop, put it in high gear, and see if it will take off without stalling. If the clutch is ****ed itll make it to 100 from 0 (eventually) without stalling the engine. if the clutch is in working condition it shouldnt be able to do this.

you should be able to notice a peculiar smell as well if the clutch is slipping...did this happen all of a sudden or has it suddenly started to occur?

Sorry all, have been off the computer for a while...
Well did all the things that were suggested.. it stalled when letting out clutch in 3rd from stopped, no real smells or visable oil leaks and yes it seems to be getting worse. think have to bite the bullet and take it to a mech...
thanks for the help tho.

Mate....i had the EXACT same symptoms.....
though with mine within a day the clutch went up in flame n smoke...
But the revs increasing n then catching is the same thing...
I would say ur clutch is on the way out...
Its gonna get worse because the more it slipps the more it wears....
If you start to feel a soft but constant vibration thought the gearstick probably go have her checked out mate.
Good luck!!
